Recruiters keep asking themselves about Google for Jobs – what effect does the function have, for example, on searches for candidates? We have summarized the most important information for you so that your company gets as much as possible out of this new function.
Google for Jobs shouldn’t be seen as a job platform where you can post job ads directly. Rather, it is an extension of a Google search. If you google terms like “Marketing Manager, Hamburg,” you will see in the results a search box that lists many different jobs matching these terms. It works similarly to searches for flights or hotels.
This Google function doesn’t allow you to place job ads directly on the search engine itself. Instead, Google does searches on popular job portals and platforms, summarizes the information from the ads and displays it in a search box. Google also automatically collects and displays information on your company’s ratings with Kununu, Indeed or Glassdoor.
All this only works, however, if certain rules are followed and technical requirements are fulfilled. Not every job portal automatically connects to Google for Jobs, because the site’s HTML code has to include special markups according to schema.org in order for them to be included in the search results.
Your choice of job portal is not the only thing that determines whether Google will include your ad in its search. The search engine also needs certain information about the job opening itself for it to be included in the sequence. If you want your ads to be particularly visible and appear on the first few pages of the search results, there are certain formal criteria that must be fulfilled.
Applicant tracking software such as Prescreen can help you meet all the necessary prerequisites: This type of system has often predefined the necessary categories for users to publish on job portals which are Google partners. This allows you to focus entirely on your main task: finding the right staff.
Google for Jobs makes job vacancies more visible. This means that recruiters increase their likelihood of finding talented candidates quickly and easily. If you play by Google’s rules and select job platforms carefully, you will reach more people and your ads will be easier to find.
